Industry Calls Archives: Semiconductors - March 2001
Semiconductors
Thursday - Friday, March 22-23, 2001: Continued overall market weakness expected.
Wednesday, March 7, 2001: Overall market weakness expected.

Sell. We really do hope that some of you were able to take advantage of the explosive move semiconductors have had in the last week. Since our buy call last week, this entire sector is up about 25%. Individual stocks we recommended have appreciated anywhere from about 18% to over 35% from their lows reached on the entry day (the day after the call). It is rare, however, to get unilateral advances this steep without giving a little back, and we have bearish signals on about three-fourths of the semiconductor stocks we follow. As such, we expect this industry to be heading back down shortly and would recommend selling any of the stocks in this sector which were purchased last week.
