Industry Calls Archives: Biotech - August 2000
Biotechs
Thursday, August 31, 2000:  Biggest development was a last stage sell on the biotech index, accompanied by sells on multiple individual biotechs, which gives us a definite sell for Friday on that sector.
Wednesday, August 16, 2000:  Nasdaq is still trying to hang on (barely), but in the meantime, several sectors have been getting hit. Biotech, probably the hardest hit so far, looks like it will be one of the first sectors to turn up when the down move approaches finality.

Thursday, August 10 - Monday, August 14, 2000:  Biotechs are still split, although the broader averages should continue to drift down at a moderate pace.

Wednesday, August 9, 2000:  Similar to the overall markets, which have been giving more and more bearish signals of late without actually giving us a sell, biotech sell is still not (according to criteria) here yet, though the signals are getting stronger and there is limited upside remaining in their near term trading range.

Monday, August 7, 2000:  Upcoming, strong bearish signals on biotech index, dna (old school biotech), and hgsi (new school) are telling us that the biotech rally may be turning down soon.

Friday, August 4, 2000:  Among biotechs, we got strong bearish signals on the biotech index we track, but it does not look like that will be turning around yet.
